Best Buddies is an organization that creates opportunities for people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to establish friendships as well as engage in integrated employment opportunities and leadership development. There are different programs available for every state in the U.S., as well as 50 countries around the world. Best Buddies Citizens matches people with IDD in one-to-one friendships with individuals in the community. Best Buddies Colleges works with hundred of colleges around the nation to pair individuals with IDD with college students. e-Buddies is an email pen pal program for people with IDD, ages 10 and up that allows them to interact with peer volunteers. These programs are just a few of the ones offered by this expanding organization.
