This article discusses a study regarding the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), an intervention method that fuses a play-based, developmental, relationship-based approach and the teaching methods of applied behavioral analysis. This therapy has been found to be effective for improving cognition and language skills among very young children with autism; however, a recent study indicates that it also normalizes brain activity, decreases autism symptoms and improves social skills.
