Emerging cognitive support technologies are increasingly being used to facilitate independence and self-directed learning activities for individuals with cognitive disabilities, including those with autism. Visual supports resulting directly from evidenced-based research conducted over the last decade are available for multiple technology platforms to assist in skill development, community access, and communication. This webinar will illustrate state-of-the-art technologies for social connectedness, independent transportation, and self-directed supports developed specifically for individuals with cognitive disabilities to facilitate their independence. In addition, their symbiotic relationship with innovative Smart Living Technologies, i.e., cloud-based technologies for remote caregiving, will also be discussed.
